La découverte : dans le Taravo

Start by visiting the village of Petreto Bicchisano, at the foot of Mount San Petru; Admire the Torra Suttana, the convent, its vaulted ways and narrow streets. Then take the D757 towards the enchanting village of Moca Croce and visit the small 10th century Romanesque church (about 1 km after leaving the hamlet of “Sapara”).
Continue along the D757 towards the village of Argiusta Moriccio with its Torrean “Foce” monument dating back to the 2nd millennium BC, which is with that of Filitosa, one of the biggest Torrean monuments in Corsica.
Still on the D757, you will come to the village of Olivese with its beautiful view over the valley, oak wooded mountains and the 19th century St George’s chapel.
Then turn left onto the D26 to the small 15th century village of Forciolo. Here the houses of the prominent people have remained remarkably unchanged over the centuries and are among the oldest in Corsica. The “San Petru di u Panicali” church, with its Romanesque apse, was built in the 13th century and renovated in the 16th century.
Then drive through the attractive typically Corsican hamlets of Azilone and Ampaza and pause in Zigliari to admire the 17th century church with its impressive tower, a classified historical monument, built in 1667.
Continue along the D26 and join the N196 in the direction to Propriano-Sartène. Before arriving in Petreto Bicchisano, your departure point, you will see on your left as you cross the new bridge, the 15th century Genoese Abra bridge.
